It's More Fun in the Philippines!
The Filipino people are generally some of the most kind and fun-loving people you will ever meet. They are family oriented and hard working. Many Filipinos are found all over the world working in various jobs and sending money back home to support their families. Many Filipinos know about Jesus Christ, but are caught up in the religion rather than the freedom Jesus provides. The Southern Island of Mindanao is home to some of the most unreached populations in the country, including many Muslim majority people groups.

Background
The Philippine Islands became a Spanish Colony during the 16th century. They were ceded to the U.S. in 1898 following the Spanish-American War. In 1935 the Philippines became a self-governing commonwealth. In 1942 the islands fell under Japanese occupation during World War II. Than the U.S. forces and Filipinos fought together during 1944-1945 to regain control. The Philippines have been a strategic partner with the U.S. since World War II and is one of the oldest American allies in Asia. For decades, it hosted major American military bases at Subic Bay and Clark Air Base. In a wave of nationalist sentiment the Philippine lawmakers ejected the American military from the country in 1991.
Years of strained military relations folowed. In recent years, two countries have come together over concerns over China's claims in the South China Sea and terrorist concerns in the Southern Philippines.
